We want travelers to go beyond the touristy clichés, and discover the city for themselves. This has become more difficult, even though technology has brought people and services closer than ever before.
Digital transformation might seem like a mirage when trying to figure out how to penetrate Asia's vast and complex emerging markets. However, thanks to the extensive penetration of mobile and 4G penetration, it's happening. People go to their favorite influencers Instagram to check out trending restaurants for a date night or pay for a haircut in a barbershop by scanning a QR code. From the hustle and bustle of Hanoi to the foothills of the Himalayas in Pokhara, locals and businesses are creating vibrant local digital economy.
However, a segment is left out of this: tourists.
As a result, travelers are stuck in the touristy kind-of-digital economy.
That is why we are building Avendi to address these two issues, and as a travel wallet, we want to help people travel like a local. Sort of like dedicated concierge service holders of premium credit cards get :)
